LCNO Sub-Committees & Programs
LCNO's Neighborhood Improvement Sub-committee
This Committee has been assessing and reporting the Los Compadres traffic concerns and infrastructure to the One-PS Committee as well as the City. The committee identified as their top priorities -- 1) traffic and pedestrian concerns on El Cielo between Escoba and Ramon and 2) traffic concerns on Sonora.

LCNO's Safety Sub-committee
The Committee is continuing to work with our local organizations that deal with safety and security issues; Chief among them the PSPD. A key focus of discussions so far has been to get a strategic understanding of incidences where property may be at risk, and to understand what steps can be taken to reduce the incidence of events, thereby improving the livability and overall safety of the Los Compadres neighborhood.

Emergency Preparedness
Are You Prepared?
Could you take care of yourself and your household for a few days during a disaster? Let’s get ready, Palm Springs!
How many times over the last six months or six years have you thought about getting your emergency plan put together or updated? The thought of it can be overwhelming to many. Where do I start? Putting the plan together needs your best thinking but doesn't have to take a lot of time. By breaking down the overall plan into smaller tasks/steps, committing to spending 10 minutes to complete tasks, doing one or two tasks at a time, you will get it done! Don’t worry if you can’t complete a task in one sitting. By the end of the month you’ll be amazed at what you've been able to accomplish!
Over the next Nine Steps/Months, the Palm Springs Neighborhood Involvement Committee in partnership with the Palm Springs Fire Department Emergency Services will provide you with incremental tasks to complete each month that will get you set up with a good foundation and ready to handle an emergency that impacts you at home. Step by step, house by house, neighborhood by neighborhood! The Steps and Modules can be found here: www.palmspringsca.gov/index.aspx?page=1217
The Los Compadres and Sonora Sunrise Neighborhoods hosted an emergency preparedness workshop on Saturday, January 25, 2014. 60 neighbors attended and learned about some of the critical items that we all should have for our families, homes, and neighborhoods (either here or away). We covered the primary three objectives from FEMA including 1) Make a Plan (a family emergency plan), 2) Make or Buy a Kit (a 72-hour kit, plus grab 'n go kits), and 3) Be informed (knowledge of local resources). The program was very successful and we are planning to hold another multi-neighborhood session in 2015. Below you can download the materials from the workshop.
