As many of you know, Police Chief Al Franz is retiring Dec. 17. Captain Bryan Reyes will serve as Acting Chief beginning Dec. 18. A news release is attached with this information.
One of our most popular displays is the mini blade signs that debuted at last year’s Picnic and Community Expo as part of the birthday celebration. Roxann Ploss, from the El Mirador Neighborhood Organization, has the graphics for a lot of those signs. If your organization wants to order your neighborhood’s mini blade sign, please contact Roxann and she’ll make the arrangements. New neighborhoods or neighborhoods working on a design for a blade sign might consider having a mini sign made to give you an idea of how it’s going to look.
The Wild Turkey Trot 5K run/walk on Thursday, Nov. 26, will let people burn off some calories before sitting down to their Thanksgiving meal. The race starts at 8 a.m. on Palm Canyon Drive at Tahquitz Canyon Way. Runners and walkers will head south to Ramon Road, then turn west on Ramon to Belardo where they will go south to just before the intersection with South Palm Canyon. There they will turn around and follow the same route back to the finish line at Palm Canyon and Tahquitz.
Road closures associated with this event:
• Tahquitz Canyon Way between Belardo and Palm Canyon will close by 5 a.m.
• Palm Canyon from Amado to Ramon will close by 6:30 a.m.
• Belardo from Ramon to South Palm Canyon will close by 6:30 a.m.
All roads are expected to be open by 10 a.m. that morning and local traffic in and out of the neighborhoods will be accommodated.
Or, if you’re getting away for the Thanksgiving holiday, Palm Springs International Airport is offering economy parking beginning Tuesday, Nov. 24. Attached is a news release with more information.
Attached is a public hearing notice for the Dec. 2 City Council meeting. The purpose of the hearing is to consider a recommendation from the Historic Site Preservation Board (HSPB) to designate 600, 650, 700, and 750 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way “Tahquitz Plaza” a Class 1 Historic Site.
